Mane: Mbappe is ‘excellent’ But With Liverpool, Everything is Possible
Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane has lavished praise on PSG youngster Kylian Mbappe, hailing him as “an excellent player” – but has warned that Paris Saint-Germain should not expect an easy night when the Reds travel to Parc de Princes for their crunch Champions League match on Wednesday.
The pair meet in a crunch Champions League match this week with Jurgen Klopp’s side able to secure their progress into the knockout stages if they register a win.
PSG currently lie third in Group C, just a point behind their visitors and can leapfrog them into the top two with a victory of their own on home soil.
The Ligue 1 outfit’s fearsome attack of Mbappe, Neymar and Edinson Cavani is arguably the strongest front three across the competition and Mane singled out the young Frenchman and World Cup winner as the key danger man.
“Kylian Mbappe is an excellent player, he has progressed so fast,” Mane told Telefoot ahead of the vital encounter. “This is good for the French national team.
“He gave you the World Cup this summer. It’s so good for you.
“It’s an important game [against PSG]. Neymar, Mbappe, Cavani… even defensively, they are really impressive.”
However, the Senegal international also cautioned Thomas Tuchel’s side that they should not take a victory for granted, with Klopp’s side looking to secure a double following their last-gasp win at Anfield in September.
“Our team ethic is fantastic,” Mane added. “Everything we do, we do it together. That’s why we are very strong. It will not be easy against Paris, but with Liverpool, everything is possible.”
The Reds emerged as 3-2 winners against PSG in the pair’s opening Champions League game of the season, with Roberto Firmino securing an injury-time winner to get Klopp’s outfit off to the best possible start as they chase a second successive final appearance.
However, defeats to Napoli and Red Star Belgrade have checked their stride somewhat since then, with Liverpool still facing another clash against the Serie A side next month in their final match of Group C.
