Everybody Was Invited to Signing of Peace Accord- Abdulsalami Abubakar
There is Still Room to Sign Peace Accord- Abdulsalami Abubakar
Former Head of State and Chairman of the National Peace Committee, Abdulsalami Abubakar, has said that all parties where invited to the signing of the Peace Accord in view of the 2019 elections.
This is following a statement by presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party Atiku Abubakar, revealing that he was not invited for the meeting which held on Tuesday, December 11.
The chairman of the committee made this disclosure at the venue of the event, International Conference Centre, Abuja, while speaking to journalists.
He said that he was not surprised that Atiku was absent, adding that there was still room, for Atiku and others who did not attend the meeting, to sign.
“You have seen the number of parties that have been invited. He will answer for himself but speaking for the National Peace Committee, everybody was invited. What reasons do we have not to invite somebody? This accord was for all political parties to sign to be of goodwill and good behaviour during elections. If there is a breakdown of communications somewhere I don’t know.
“What surprises me is that when we had the conference with the political parties he came out and agreed on this agenda, the parties agreed and it was the recommendation that the peace committee has taken,” he said.
