Atiku Says He Did Not Receive an Invitation to Signing of Peace Accord
Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), Atiku Abubakar has revealed reasons behind his absence at the signing of Peace Accord with President Muhammadu Buhari and other presidential candidates.
Atiku had reportedly not attended the signing of a peace pact among presidential candidates of the 2019 election.
The event which took place at the International Conference Centre on Tuesday, December 11 was attended by major presidential aspirants except Atiku.
According to Atiku, he did not receive any invitation to take part at the signing of a peace accord for 2019 presidential candidates
He disclosed this via his spokesperson, Paul Ibe, in a statement Tuesday, December 11, Premium Times reports.
“I can confirm that Mr Abubakar did not receive any formal invitation to the signing of the peace pact,” he said.
This is however in contrast to Matthew Kukah, a Catholic bishop and one of the the proponents of the accord’s disclosure that the committee sent an invitation to Mr Abubakar.
The peace accord is an undertaking by all the presidential candidates for a peaceful campaign before, during and after the 2019 general elections.
