UN Delegation Meets Kaduna Police, Calls for Safety in 2019 Elections
A United Nations (UN) delegation has met the police commissioner in Kaduna state, Malam Ahmad Abdur Rahama, commending and advising that safety be ensured in the 2109 general elections.
This was recorded in a statement by the state police command issued on Friday, November 16, by its spokesman, DSP Yakubu Sabo.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the UN delegation was led by Mohammad ibn Chambas.
According to Sabo, the delegation commended the police for its professional and prompt tackling of the recent Kaduna crises.
Chambas urged the command ‘to apply the same zeal and expertise to ensure a safe and secured atmosphere for the conduct of 2019 elections.’
Assuring the command of the UN’s support, he stressed the importance of election security and the utmost need for a peaceful elections in Nigeria.
The commissioner thanked the UN delegation over the visit and their support to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), reiterating that the command would not relent in ensuring adequate security before, during and after the general elections.
