Governor Lalong Reassures IDPs of Safety

Governor of has reassured Internally Displaced Persons () in the state of returning to their homes with a new life and a peaceful environment.

He said this in Jos while receiving the report on IDPs resettlement committee on Monday.

The governor further expressed the government’s resolve to immediately implement of the recommendations towards returning displaced persons to their respective homes.

The governor’s assurance follows several attacks in some parts of the state that sacked over 20,000 persons from their homes.

Following the development, the state government inaugurated a five-man committee to investigate and make recommendations for the return of the internally displaced persons to their original places of abode.

Presenting the report, Chairman of the committee, Air Vice Marshal Bala Danbaba (retired), identified several communities affected in five local government areas of the state with casualties recorded including destroying farmlands and villages which were forcefully taken over by the attackers.

The committee, however, recommended a four-phase strategy with proper security arrangement on the ground to avoid further attacks on the communities.
