APC Sale Of Forms Hits N12.6bn For 2019 Elections.
It is a known fact about how exorbitant the price APC presidential, Senate and House of Representatives forms were. It has been reported that the APC Sale Of Forms has amounted to N12.6bn. The Punch newspapers said it arrived at the figures after computing the cost of the forms and multiplying it by the number of aspirants who paid for and collected same to participate in the APC primaries.
The Break Down
The presidential form cost 45million as only President Mohamadu Buhari was the only Aspirant. He was supported in purchasing the form. The President’s well wishers and supporters obtained the form for him.
Furthermore, the governorship aspirants all paid a nonrefundable fee of 22.5 million each to obtain their forms across each State and as of the close of sales; 171 aspirants were confirmed by the party to have paid for and obtained the forms. When the figure was multiplied by N22.5m, it amounted to N3,847,500,000 or N3.847bn.
For the Senate, 386 aspirants paid N7m each to obtain the forms and when the number was multiplied by the total number of aspirants, it brought the figure to N2.702bn. No fewer than 1,587 persons reportedly paid N3.8m each to obtain the party’s house of Rep nomination forms. When the number was multiplied, it amounted to N6,030,600,000 or N6.03bn. When the sums were put together, The Punch reports that they amounted to a grand total of N12, 625,100,000 or N12.625bn.
The newspaper, however, stated that its efforts to speak with the new APC national publicity secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu, to confirm the figures were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report on Friday, October 19.
Meanwhile, the senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Shehu Sani, has quit the All Progressives Congress. Senator Sani’s action was stated in a letter dated Friday, October 19, and addressed to the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole. It was learnt that Sani did not give reasons for resigning his membership of the party.
