Strike Continues as FG, ASUU Meeting Deadlock
ASUU Strike Continues on Wednesday
The on-going nationwide strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) is set to continue on Wednesday as the meeting between the union and the Federal Government meets a deadlock.
The meeting between the Federal Government and leaders of the union yesterday, Tuesday December 4 at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja had ended without any agreement.
The strike which started early November was a protest by the union over the poor implementation of earlier agreements with the government.
The protest is also for the poor funding of Nigerian Universities, following a meeting of its national leadership at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The meeting presided over by the Minister of Education, Mr Adamu Adamu, was held at the Ministry of Education and lasted over four hours.

This meeting comes one week after both parties failed to reach an agreement at a meeting held on Monday, November 26.
National President of ASUU, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, and leaders of the union were in attendance.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry of education, Mr Sunny Echono; representatives of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and that of the National Income, Wages and Salaries Commission, were part of the Federal Government delegation at the meeting, alongside Adamu.
