More Than 40 Boko Haram Members Have Surrendered- Borno Commandant
The Borno division of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has reportedly captured one of the wives of the leaders of the Boko Haram terrorist group.
This was revealed by the Borno commandant of the division, Abdullahi Ibrahim at the commissioning of the newly donated equipment by the U.S Department of State in Maiduguri on Wednesday, December 19.
He said that two women were caught of which one is the wife of a factional leader of the terrorist group, Mamman Nur,
Nur’s teenage wife, identified as Fatima Muhammed Kabir, was reportedly arrested alongside Amina Salihu at Borno Express Motor Park.
According to his report,the duo had revealed during interrogation that their mission was to carry out an Improvised Explosive Device attack in Maiduguri.
Also speaking at the commissioning, Ibrahim said many Boko Haram members have surrendered their arms and some have been put under rehabilitation.
“More than 40 Boko Haram members have surrendered through the command. We have handed them over to the military for rehabilitation under the Operation Safe Corridor.
“We are able to convince them to surrender their arms and accept meaningful de-radicalisation and reintegration opportunity offered them by the government.
“During their stay in the command, they said they are now praying five times in a day as against when they are fighting in the forest,” he said.
