FG Declares Friday 22nd Public HolidayIn view of the 2019 presidential elections scheduled for Saturday 23rd, the has declared Friday 23rd a public holiday.

This was declared through the Ministry of Interior on Wednesday, February 20.

The holiday however excludes bankers and others that provide the public with essential services.

According to the government, the holiday is to aid people in getting to their polling units and consequently casting their votes come Saturday.

The statement read: “Federal government declares Friday, February 22, 2019 as work-free day. Those providing essential duties and bankers are excluded.

“The work-free day is to enable citizens return to their polling units for the reschedule Presidential & National Assembly elections.

“Security agencies have been directed to ensure safety of lives and property before, during and after the general election.”
