Alcohol Kills Faster than AIDS
In a new report on Friday, the World Health Organisation has disclosed that alcohol may be a faster killer compared to AIDS, road accidents, and violence combined.
According to the apex health organisation, alcohol accounts for the death of three million people each year of which three out of four are men.
Previous reports from international and local reports have blamed many road accidents on the consumption of alcohol. More so, deaths from violence have had traces of alcohol usage written over it.
The W.H.O report included the health implications of excess alcohol consumption ranging from liver conditions to cancer.
In addition to the chronic diseases that may develop in those who drink large amounts of alcohol over a number of years, alcohol use is also associated with an increased risk of acute health conditions, such as injuries, including from traffic accidents”, WHO reports.
He referred to alcohol as a serious threat to a healthy society and urged people to put a stop to the menace.
The organisation has complained of the rising rate of excessive alcohol drinking in continents of the world. It encourages a beer per day.
